The Story of Ghosts in the Field

I was raised on a third generation dairy farm in Central Utah. My great grandfather Charles Ogden started the family business in 1926, and my dad still farms today.

Throughout my life, my family farm roots have kept me steady, and when I go home I'm flooded with wonderful memories.

My dad Jeff and me

Last summer when I was on tour with Bill DiLuigi we were sitting on the back porch looking out over our fields. And that's where we wrote a very special song called "Ghosts in the Field" about having roots that run deep and feeling connected to your ancestors.

But the story behind this song is much bigger than me, which brings me to you!

I'm working on a lyric video for "Ghosts in the Field" and I would love to include photos from your family too!

Here's what I'm looking for:
  • By March 15, please email me photos or video clips of your family farming or in a farm type setting (i.e. standing in a field) from any year up to 1990.
  • Higher quality (large) images are better, jpeg format or similar, so send the best quality you can.
  • Please save the photos or clips with your family name (example BobSmith_barn) and let me know how you want your name to appear in the video credits (Sally Smith Family, Topeka, KS).
  • If you need to send a dropbox link because the files are too large to email that works great as well.
I can't wait to see your photos and hear your stories! Please share with your friends as well so they can join us!

"Sometimes this world gets me spinning round,
I come back here so I can slow it down,
Some roots, run deep
Even some that you can't see
But to me nothing seems more real
Than the Ghosts in the Field"
